We have posted a critical-view article on Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle challenging its contention that it represents a "law of Nature" and challenging therefore the entire foundation of Quantum Theory. You can go directly to the article in question by clicking on the adjacent icon.

We have posted two (2) critical-view articles challenging Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity at its very foundation:

 --one, dealing with the relativistic mass-energy concept;

--the other, dealing with the relativistic space-time concept.

To go directly to the two (2) stated articles, click on the respective eye-icon above.

Foundational Inquiries in Physics
Site Overview

... there is nothing more critical to the well-being
of a natural science than the continuous re-examination
of the building blocks of its foundation ...

he prominent and dominant role of Physics within the realm of Natural Sciences is beyond dispute as its study affects directly and indirectly the studies of the rest of Natural Sciences and Philosophy at large in a most profound way. Because of this special role that Physics has acquired within the realm of Natural Sciences, the foundational structure and blocks upon which Physics rest its theoretical body is of paramount importance and, the continuous examination and re-examination of Physics' theoretical foundation is essential and critical for its well being and ultimately for its very existence.

Methods upon which modern Physics derive its results will form an integrant part of our foundational inquiries, as these methods can transcend to other fields of studying Nature. The "tools" of modern theoretical Physics shall also receive considerable attention, as these tools, again, can transcend their usage to other fields of studying Nature. Finally, aside from the methods and tools employed by Theoretical Physics, we shall take a look at the techniques employed in acquiring those results and how can we judge the correctness of the results obtained.

On the meaning of the mass and energy concepts, as fundamental concepts of understanding Nature, as advanced by Albert Einstein in his Special Theory of Relativity (STR).
  • The mass of an object, according to this theory, will increase indefinitely, out of nothing, with the increase of the object's speed and --according to the theory-- the mass will reach the infinite value when the object reaches the speed of light.
  • Mass (m), according to this theory, is equivalent to Energy (E) because they are supposedly related by the formula: , where c is the speed of light.

 F o u n d a t i o n a l    I s s u e :

On the meaning of the Space-Time concept as advanced by Albert Einstein in his Special Theory of Relativity as a physical foundation of studying Nature.
  • The mathematical space structure of the Universe, according to Einstein's space-time concept, is a four (4) dimensional continuum composed of three (3) "regular" coordinates (x,y,z) plus a fourth one vested in the time coordinate (t), resulting in the space (x,y,z,t).
          - What is the mathematical, the physical, and the philosophical meaning of such a space?
  • According to Einstein, the centuries old assumption that the space of the Universe is filled with a material substance (called ether or aether) should be abolished and substituted with vacuum.
          - In such a case, how could material perturbations, such as sound or light travel? Is it not required that a material perturbation to be able to propagate have a material medium of propagation?
          - Is there any physical principle prohibiting a limit to the speed of a material perturbation not to exceed the speed of light as postulated in Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity?
  • In Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity, time is defined through clocks and the concept of simultaneity.
          - Can and should such a definition be acceptable? Don't we need to make a distinction between the theoretical concept of time and the practical way of measuring it?
          - What is the meaning of the simultaneity concept as advanced by Einstein in formulating the laws of Nature?

On the meaning of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle:
In view of the realization that at the atomic and subatomic level of studying Nature, any experiment that we may perform will inevitably inherent a large enough disturbance that will affect in a substantial and incontrollable way the results gathered, then
  • What is the significance of those experimental results obtained if we are not able to extract accurate data and we have no way to adjust them towards their true "absolute" value?, and
  • What should be our theoretical model for this study of Nature --in general, and What mathematical model we need to embrace --in particular while studying Nature at its atomic and subatomic level of existence?, and
  • If we cannot rely on experiments, because of the uncontrollable and unpredictable large errors generated, on what can we relay in studying Nature at its most fundamental level of existence?
